A study from the Complexity Science Hub Vienna reveals that the increase in the number of close friends, from an average of two to four or five, between 2008 and 2010 has contributed to growing societal polarization. This rise in social connections has led to more fragmented ideological groups, making it difficult for diverse opinions to coexist and increasing conflict within society.
